Today, with this first post, we are launching a new section of our blog dedicated to tutorials. We are often asked whether assembling our products is complicated, or if it is necessary to call in a professional electrician.
The tutorials are designed to answer all these questions and to help anyone approaching our products, without necessarily being lighting or electrical experts! Through simple tutorials and photographic guides, all of you can learn how to carry out the operations that will allow you to use Creative-Cables branded items and create the lighting designs born from your imagination: from table lamps to DIY chandeliers!

Ready to get started? Good, then let’s begin with an operation that seems simple but is absolutely essential: stripping our fabric-covered electric cables, that is, exposing the copper wires inside the insulating sheaths so that they can be connected to any lighting accessory you wish.
To carry out this very simple task, you’ll only need a roll of tape and a pair of scissors—items you can find in any home. In this post, we’ll be dealing with our round-section cables. First, wrap a strip of tape around the fabric cable about two centimetres from the end that will be ‘stripped’. The tape prevents the textile fibres covering the inner wires from fraying during cutting, ensuring a much neater and more attractive result.

Once the cables are exposed, all that remains is to strip the insulation from the wires. If you have a wire stripper, which can be purchased at any hardware shop, simply use it on the wires. If you don’t have one, don’t worry: just apply gentle pressure to the wires with the scissors you used earlier to reveal the metal core; at that point, gently pull off the rubber sheath to fully expose it, and proceed with the connection!
Is everything clear? Did you manage or did you encounter any problems? Let us know in the comments, and tell us which tutorials you’d like to see in the future!
