Kiki's Bar
Imagine sitting at the table of a luxury venue with a direct view of the Mediterranean Sea. You hear the sound of the waves breaking on the beach and the invigorating scent of the fresh air. And in the evening, you let yourself be carried away by the magical atmosphere of this place, illuminated by a unique installation featuring Creative-Cables lights.
There are two projects in which this dream became reality: the first is Kiki’s Bar and was created by Archilight – a professional lighting design studio – and the second was made possible thanks to interior designer Nedal Badr and 3Brothers – one of the leading companies in the Egyptian lighting sector – within a prestigious resort on the North Coast of Alexandria, Egypt.
String lights, and it’s instantly magical!
They create a soft, gentle light for an atmosphere that is sure to impress, while also providing enough illumination for people to see food and drinks clearly. These are the outdoor light chains chosen by many restaurants, beach clubs and venues to transform their outdoor spaces. This is exactly what Kiki’s Bar at Hacienda Bay, a luxurious coastal resort on Egypt’s northern coast, has done.
The spacious terrace overlooking the sea is illuminated by the EIVA series string lights, the first wiring system specifically designed for outdoor use, with an IP65 protection rating. At the heart of each one is the waterproof Eiva-2 double-outlet lampholder, the soft-touch silicone IP65 cylindrical ceiling rose, and glossy-effect black outdoor cables.
The vintage and poetic look of the space is also guaranteed thanks to the globe-shaped light bulbs with curved filament and golden glass, which emit a particularly warm light (1800K).
No walls: guaranteed sea view
This beachfront restaurant posed a great challenge for the designer. The complete lack of walls and ceilings, the non-existent lighting above tables—which changed position depending on the flow of customers—the direct sea view with frequent gusts of wind, were just some of the challenges faced, which were overcome thanks to the innovative solutions by Creative-Cables.
The requirement? Unique pendant lamps that could provide sufficient brightness for the tables without in any way blocking the view of the sea. Additionally, they needed to be able to move with the tables when necessary, ensuring the right lighting during dinner or aperitifs. All this was achieved thanks to systems such as EIVA, which guarantees maximum flexibility with IP65 protection rating. And despite potential obstacles, the result was extraordinary.
At the core of the work, a grid of tension cables was positioned to ensure maximum stability and safety of the structures even on the windiest days. On top of this, EIVA textile cables were placed, which, thanks to their double elastomeric rubber coating suitable for use from -25°C to +60°C and fabric covering, guarantee both safety and aesthetics. The heart of the project is EIVA-3, the T-joint with IP65 protection rating, which, thanks to the special insulating gel inside, can safely withstand rain and storms, and EIVA Elegant, the world’s first IP65 cableable lamp holder, developed for outdoor use with E27 fitting and soft-touch silicone cover.
To make the atmosphere even more magical, a profusion of golden light bulbs creates a soft, gentle glow for a warm and enveloping effect. Here, Milleluci light bulbs have been used, perfect with their tangle of micro LEDs inside.
