Located midway between Brescia and Franciacorta, not far from Lake Iseo, the Tabaccaia of Castrezzato is reopening its gates after several decades of closure.
A complex of late 19th-century industrial buildings covering 10,000 square metres, whose memory had long been forgotten due to decay and neglect. Thanks to a project to restore the architectural structure, the place will come back to life: no more tobacco, but a multi-purpose space to be enjoyed to the full!
All summer long, this place will be dedicated to sharing and to meetings born from collaborations with local companies and businesses. An idea that deliberately evokes the relaxed pace of summer: an open-air space open to everyone, even if just to take a break, sip a good glass of wine, or dine on the many and varied culinary offerings from street food, the bistro and the osteria, which will host big names from Italian gastronomy.
In this period of “restarting”, we decided to get involved for Brescia, a place to which we are attached thanks to our flagship store located in the heart of the city, a hub for both private clients and professionals. Our intervention focused on the lighting design of the space. Eiva was our design choice: the world’s first lamp holder that can be wired and rewired to IP65 standard, an innovative and creative solution that we believe reflects the artistic atmosphere that the former Tabacchificio Tabaccaia offers its guests. There are various possible combinations for our colourful, practical and functional outdoor lamps, capable of bringing a breath of fresh air to a long-forgotten place. The lighting set-up was overseen by CroVal. The installation was supported by SCAB Design – a true Brescia-based company – which furnished the bistro area with 60 Lady B chairs, robust technopolymer chairs in various earthy colours, along with the elegant and practical extra-large Lisa Lounge Club armchair. An ambitious renovation project, spread across several buildings of the Tabaccaia, aiming directly at a new beginning with a target set for 2021. A place from the past looking to the future, tenaciously guided by the light of Eiva.
