Multiple pendant lamps: buying guide

When it comes to lighting our homes, it’s important to choose the right lights not only based on aesthetics, but also on the function they serve.

Multi-drop chandeliers allow you to furnish with light: let’s discover together which to choose according to your needs and the intended use you want to give it.

Lighting the dining table

The dining room or kitchen island are places where we gather to spend time with loved ones and share a meal.

Here are our tips for a well-lit dining table:

  1. Choose a directional light by using opaque lampshades, to create beams of light directed onto the table.
  2. Place the chandelier in the centre of the table to avoid casting shadows on your guests’ faces and to ensure the dishes you serve are well lit.
  3. Use a textile cable to suspend the chandelier at a height between 70 and 90 cm above the table and protect your eyes from the light.
  4. Opt for a warm-toned light that makes food look more appetising. Light bulbs with 3000 Kelvin are ideal for flats and will help you impress at the table.

An extra idea...

If you like directional lights such as spotlights, the Tub-E14 metal lampshade will be perfect for creating a multiple pendant lamp with the drops in line to position above the centre of a rectangular table and create a contemporary look.

Lighting multiple points

Is your living room also a dining room, home office, relaxation space for you and a play area for your children? Would you like a chandelier that lights up all areas using a single light point?

The best way to do this is to opt for a Spider: that is, a multi-pendant suspension lamp complete with cable decentralisers. This way, you can configure your chandelier according to your needs, distributing the drops over a large area and positioning them at the height you need to illuminate each specific area.

You can create the spider by choosing:

  1. A multi-hole ceiling rose or an XL ceiling rose, where the number of holes will correspond to the number of drops on your chandelier.
  2. The colour and length of the cables, adapting them to your needs
  3. A cable decentraliser for every cable to be fixed to the ceiling, allowing you to suspend the different drops at your preferred height.
  4. Whether you complete your spider with exposed light bulbs or with a series of lampshades

An extra idea...

There’s no need for the drops to be regular and symmetrical, as every space is different. Have fun playing with cable guides and cable decentralisers to create patterns with the cables on your ceiling and achieve lighting that best represents you.

Lighting an entire room

If you need a chandelier for the bedroom or living room, you'll want one that lights the room evenly.

Some advice for choosing the ceiling lamp that best suits you:

  • Choose a multi-pendant lamp with exposed light bulbs, where the light sources are all one colour and uncovered, for a more diffuse and brilliant light.
  • If you prefer softer, more diffused light, your choice should fall on a chandelier complete with lampshades, which will help you create a cosier, more relaxing atmosphere.
  • To visually fill the space, the ideal choice is a cluster lamp, made up of many small drops that you can customise to suit your needs.

Lighting a stairwell

Are you looking for a designer chandelier for the stairwell in your loft? Or would you like to improve the one in your block of flats?

  • Every staircase is different, which is why it’s important (even more so than in other spaces) to follow a few tips to light it up properly:
  • make use of height by creating a chandelier with custom textile cables to distribute the light evenly across the levels and make every step safe.
  • make sure that the light fittings are easy to replace—even if, with LED light bulbs, you might have to wait years to do so, safety comes first!
  • Opt for exposed light bulbs or cage lampshades, which will create a brighter and more diffused light.

An extra idea...

The stairwell is where you can really let your creativity run wild by creating truly unique and imaginative lamps, mixing cable lengths and colours, as well as the shapes and sizes of the light bulbs.
